Sound OK w/ Knoppix 3.3 none w/ 3.4

I am running of the 3.4c't CD and can't boot ALSA with the 2.6 kernel. Works fine on 2.4. I get a "Error starting mixer" or something statment. Any ideas why? Could this be related to your problem?

I split your post from the topic you attatched it to as they are not really related. Please post some hardware details, specifically your sound card make/model/chipset. Do you use any cheat codes when you boot Knoppix?
