i've been reading through the forums while trying to make install knoppix onto my laptop with no diskette drive and only a pcmcia cdrom ( not bootable ) for 2 weeks now. hope someone can help me ..

it has two partitions ( both fat32 ) , one with Win ME and the main one with Win XP.

the first step i tried was to install "smart boot manager" which is the only boot manager which i know which supposedly can boot from PCMCIA drives. i tried that but it didn't work as it couldn't detect my drive correctly.

next thing i tried was to get loadlin to run through autoexec.bat but i don't think ME goes through autoexec.bat .. loadlin didn't work through just a MS-DOS terminal window in ME too.

then i tried installing w32grub.exe and it seems as the installation goes ok. but when i choose "grub" from ntldr, my comp restarts. i tried with an empty menu.lst but i don't even get to see the grub prompt. anyone ?
