want to make gdm default login manager my own live cd

i am making my own version of knoppix at college with a friend and a lecturer and i want to be able to have my version installed with gdm being the default login manager as we have a project for making it look like windows, i don't personally like windows, but gdm greeter can make it look like the xp login screen, if any body could tell how to do this i would grateful + has anybody sucessfully installed the bootsplash from bootsplash.org i tried but could not get it to work.

it can be easily done in morphix...

thanks for the help i might you morphix, but does anybody know the exact way of doing it in either Knoppix or Morphix :D
