hi,

I have a usb modem and I do not suceed at configuring it. With kppp I selected all devices from the list and none of them worked when I chose "ask the modem".. either was not found or was "engaged" or not able to open... Nevertheless, I know knoppix 3.3 finds the modem because it in on the list. How can I solve this?

Another question regarding an isdn card... I have one of them (intern), Fritz!, but I don't know whether I can use this card as a mere modem... Do I need any other extra tool than the normal phone connection?

thanks,

Pau

I've had two usb modems to try to use with knoppix/debian. The first was a "software" modem and the second has an on board controller. Both are Best Data products.

Interestiingly, the software modem came with linux drivers on the cd (also available for download) but I couldn't get it to work under knoppix.

The hardware modem works, as /dev/usb/tty/ACM0. I think i had to go through the different choices under the device tab of KPPP to find it.

There is a website http://www.linmodems.org/ you might want to look at.
