hi!
i am an absolute n00b in linux, and maybe this post was already answered in other question- but i didnt find a concrete solution.

I tried to install knoppix 3.2 on my notebook, and it worked without any problem; however the problem is the network:

I am connected to the internet through a LAN, say: there is a server in the LAN, that provides the Internet to all clients and gives all of them an IP address from the "IP-pool". i already checked out, if my network card was recognised-> yes it is. but i don't know how to get it to work, since i know, knoppix is optimized for "direct" connections.

i hope you can help me, although, you may post your suggestions a second time or send a link, but i am really n00bie;
thx, quiek

in the shell type

dhclient
that should do the trick, but if using knoppix there is also a configure network option in the menu under KNOPPIX > Network/Internet > Network card configuration wich should help you do it.

This is if your network card is already detected.
