ok i got a friend who just started using knoppix, and well since i dont know much about it either i need help, basically when he boots from the cd, all it says is A:\

Sounds like you didn't burn the image correctly. Did you use Nero? Do a search in these forums on burning with Nero. You have to make sure that you burn Knoppix as an .iso image and not simply as any other file.

If that's not it, then you probably need to check your bios and make sure it's set to boot from the cd.

it sounds like you made a cdrom booteable with msdos "a:\" the iso image makes a booteable cd if you are using nero burn it like a saved image
