Im new to Linux, where do all these codes go and where does one type them in?
What codes ?
If you mean the cheat codes you would type them at the boot prompt on the first screen that comes up almost immediately when booting from cd.
An example:


boot: knoppix noapic

Usually you don't need to put anything there but in case you have trouble booting (usually due to poorly designed hardware) one of these cheat codes might help.

And you can put more than one on the line knoppix noapic xmodule=nv .... in case you need some combination of codes for it to work.
