View Full Version : Does cron and shaper need to be started?

My syslog is getting filled every 10 min. with:
Mar 17 21:40:01fujibox /USR/SBIN/CRON[8629]: (root) CMD ([ -d /etc/shaper ] && /etc/init.d/shaper timecheck)

The question is: Can I delete cron and shaper from the rc runlevels or are they something I need for surfing?
(Only server I run is cups)
Alternatively, can I do something to prevent the timecheck?

apt-get remove --purge shaper and no you do not want to remove cron.
