network boot won't work..

hi there,

i got a computer with a intel pro 100 & pxe-rom inside and i need to boot over network, since its a subnotebook and got no (supported) external drives. but somehow the notebook doesn't recognize anything when i run knoppix' dhcp(boot)server-program.

is there something special to concider?
is there anything more to do than just:

1. connect them with nw-cable (crossed)
2. boot knoppix on pc1
3. start the server-program (check intel pro 100 - kernel checkbox)
4. start the laptop and hope it detects the server
