I bought 2 of these cards refurbished for short money. ($50 shipped for 2). Probably sent back to D-link by some windows user that couldn't get his mouse clicks in the right sequence and pattern. ;)

This card works just fine under Linux but not with the linux-wlan-ng drivers.

You actually need to upload the firmware on boot everytime and unload the modules before halt/reboot or the card can (will?) lock. You need the hostap driver. (http://hostap.epitest.fi/)

There is a great howto from Andrew Barr here. (http://home.columbus.rr.com/andrewbarr/dwl520e1.html#modules)

You don't need the following link to get the dwl-520E working but it is relevant to linux wireless and the hostap driver.

Linux wireless (http://www.chinalinuxpub.com/doc/www.siliconvalleyccie.com/linux-hn/wmp11-linux.htm)

*Note use dhclient instead of dhcpcd. apt-get install dhcp3-client
*Note the hostap driver also works with the dwl-650.

It seems that the linux-wlan-ng drivers do work w/ the dwl-520 but.....
