Hi,
I have some problems with Knoppix on my Toshiba Satellite 1800-100:
Celeron 800 MHz
128 MB Ram
20 GB HDD

When I run knoppix from the CD it boots Ok but it shows some quirks.
It cant initialize my 3com PCMCIA network card and X keeps running in 800x600 even though i tried the screen=1024x768 cheatcode.
But the biggest problem is it gives me some errors during boot that says something like this:
HDA1: device can not accept commands
And also something about an IRQ timeout (cant remember exact msg)?
Knoppix keeps on booting into X but my harddisk is constantly running and it keeps X hanging for about 5 sec's every 25 something sec's (even the mouse freezes).
I have Win XP Pro installed on that HDD with Fat32, Could this cause the problems (I read somewhere it wouldnt)?
Would the problem be solved if i made a Linux partition on the HDD and installed Knoppix there?

THX in advance,
Manolo Schilperoort

I have been testing a variety of liveCD's on my Toshiba.

The following distro's work almost 100%:
SLAX, knoppix MIB 3.2, Vector and MandrakeMove.

These do NOT work:
Knoppix Live, Feather, Flonix, Puppy and Morphix.

The ones that doesn't work has the following problem:

All seems well up to the following message:
Scanning for Harddisk partitions and creating /etc/fstab...
At this stage, the boot process just stops and sit there.
If I then do a ctrl-c, the bootprocess proceeds seemingly normal.

hda: drive not ready for command
ide0: reset: success
hda: irq timeout: status=0x58 {Driveready SeekComplete DataRequest}
hda: status timeout: status=0xd0 {busy}

Pushing the on/off button at imme

morphix dma seems to give a normal boot. Didn't need to do this with the knoppix MiB 3.2 edition.

MD5 hash of the download matched. CD Data integrity test ok.

Maybe this help?
