editing smb.conf

i was wanting to know if there is a way to edit smb.conf in order to get this working in a windows server environment. is there a special directory i need to create, or would i have to do a hdd install?

ok, that helped, but i'm geting an access denied message. i know why, tho. i'm not loged in to the domain that my school is in (wwcs.org) how do i set the domain name and a ll of that? I'm used to using slack, which is what i run at home.

knoppix doesn't seem to have a netconfig command, so how do I do it?

Knoppix uses netcardconfig.
