ok im running a pentium 4 2.8ghz with ht, i have 512mb ram, and a geforcefx 5900 ultra 256mb vid card, i could go into sound and drives and stuff but i think this is all that is needed to know for my problem. i just burned the knoppix iso image to a cd and booted it up. when i got to the main boot screen i booted up knoppix. after it went through everything and booted up the main screen with the browsers and everything EVERYTHING on the screen was distorted, had weird colors, barely readable text and images were messed up, there was transparency to the windows too but i think its supposed to have transparency. anyway i cant use knoppix in that condition. its knoppix 3.3
i tried booting up with my screen size set as the res and still saem problem. i than booted it up again using knoppix testcd command and it tested the cd. it said "Everything Looks OK" and continued booting than had same problem. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

hmm... I am using an fx5600 and no probs...you could boot in vga mode so you can see to troubleshoot and figure out if there is something you can do. Check out this article,

http://www.distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resource=review-knoppix

the command to boot into vga mode is given there.

Whell it could also be a bad burn. I had problems with burning even though I have a new burner.
1. To test the verify burn write at knoppix boot prompt following:
knoppix testcd

2. I had many problems before but did some burning at lowest speed 4x and got it to work. I tried first Nero then finally RecordNow Max worked for me using "burn and verify" option.

I would still try out to burn the cd again with the lowest speed you can.
Then see if there is any differenses between the two CDs by booting them.

Or maybe try your cd on other computer.
