cannot load a ramdisk with an old kernel image

I'm pretty new to linux, and completely new to knoppix. I downloaded the iso off linuxiso.org, burned it, and tried it out, but it gave me that message. it's given me the same message on multiple computers. I was under the impression it was supposed to work as-is, do I need to do some sort of customization first?
