login problem for user accounts other than root

I'm a noob and have installed knoppix on hard disk with ext3 fs. My comp is Inspiron 5100.


The problem is the screen just goes blank if i try to login through other user accounts in the kde graphics.It doesn't work even for the user knoppix. The kde works fine if i login as root.
Could somebody help me out

here is a very simple & stupid answer. :idea:

you got knoppix installed on your system on ext3 f/s. you are all set.

boot your system with knoppix cd, login as knoppix, which it does by default, open the root shell, mount the disks in the r/w mode. get the job done and you are all set and can read and write files to the disk.

wait for a smart answer from a smart user until then. :!: :!:
