I burned the Knoppix CD using the following image:
KNOPPIX_V3.1-2003-01-20-EN.iso

Knoppix successfully mounted hda1 ( which is win2k NTFS disk), and i can read & browse /mnt/hda1.

then i made following changes to smb.conf
secure=share
[root]
path = /
public = yes

& tarted the samba server.

From any windows pc in the network, i can read all the knoppix (\\knoppix\root) files, but when i try to accesss (\\knoppix\root\mnt\hda1) which is win2k (NTFS) harddisk, i get an "Access is denied" mssg.

on Knoppix i can still access /mnt/hda1.

Interestingly if i boot Knoppix on a pc with windowsME ( FAT ) loaded, that harddrive is readable across the network.
My guess is NTFS file permissions are an issue here, any hints about how to solve this.....
Thanks
