Is there a way of making it 800 by 600 pixels on 32-bit colour???

cause thats what windows is using and that goes about fine. also if i do, will it harm my system in anyway?? OS and all??

I don't think so. If 800x600, 32 bpp is supported and works in windows, then 800x600, 24 bpp should work fine in Knoppix.

Yes. You'll see

boot:

and you should type

knoppix screen=800x600 depth=24

so it looks like

boot: knoppix screen=800x600 depth=24

It didnt work
:-(

But it looked allot better i could see what i think was the mouse pointer when i moved the mouse.

So is there a better way or if possible is there a lower resolution??

ok, would this work??

knoppix screen=640x480 depth=24

Or is 800x600 the lowest??

Do you know what video card and how much video memory you have? If so, you might provide an 'xmodule=????' option at boot. When the boot: prompt comes up, hit F2 and check out the cheat codes.

Good luck.

my graphics is built in.
it says in the 'PC133 system board, Socket 370, M758+ series' manual

- onboard 128-bit 2D/3D 100mhz Host interface AGP
graphics accelerator Compiles with AGP v2.0
- Shared memory architector allows a maximum of 64mb
main memory to act as frame buffer
- Supports high resolutions up to 1920x1200 16m colours, up
4096x4096
- Supports hardware DVD accelerator

I dont think thats it though i think it is something to do with my monitor becoase when my old monitor broke that was 17" this 15" done the same thing and i had to change the resolution,

thats why im wondering if
knoppix screen=640x480 depth=24 will work

It sounds like it may just be a refresh rate problem with the monitor. Try something like this:

knoppix screen=800x600 depth=24 xvrefresh=60
or

knoppix screen=640x480 depth=24 xvrefresh=60

WARNING: You should really find out what refresh rates your monitor can handle and make sure the xvrefresh rate you specify is within the range of vertical refresh rates that your monitor can handle. I've read where you can render a monitor useless by specifying a vert. refresh rate outside the range that it can handle.

Good luck,
