Hi All,

Got knoppix installed and I'm just blown away with this distro - very stable.

Where's the best english forum to learn about Debian? The newgroup linux.debian appears dead. The newsgroup linux.debian.user is "moderated" - my post asking about upgrading the kernel of a knoppix box didn't show.

So.....where do you folks go?

BTW, any of you start with K3.3 and then upgrade to kernel 2.6? What was your experience? Any gotchas to watch out for?

As far as web-based forums go:

Two "biggies" out there are debianHELP (http://www.debianhelp.org/) and the Debian forum at LinuxQuestions.org (http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/forumdisplay.php?forumid=26). These are high-volume boards and one has a tendency to get lost in the shuffle, but they're good for searching for answers.

This forum (Knoppix.net) is probably acceptable for posting Debian-related questions, especially after you've installed Knoppix! Another good forum that's lower-volume, although it's not specifically Debian-related, is at LinuxFormat's (http://www.linuxformat.co.uk/) web site. (Linux Format is a British magazine with a great "cover CD" that you can buy at many Barnes & Noble's in the US.)

(I haven't tried looking to Usenet newsgroups for help with Debian yet.)

and for Usenet, try linux.debian.user. That is quite active, though perhaps your provider doesn't carry it on their newsserver?
