Issues logging in

Hi,

I am a Noob at Knoppix.

Have installed it to Hard Disk by following a tutorial although when restarting after the install i am unable to login with the passwords i set during setup.

I am on the other hand able to login at the console.

When logging in at the gui the screen goes blank then trys to load and returns to the login screen.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried selecting KDE at the login?

Yes have also tryed logging in via the root account.

try using a overly simple password, say aaaaaaaa, if i remember right kde somehow defaults to german keyboard on knoppix hd install... so keys have swapped places.
if you can login in console do passwd username and change pass...

Nope that still didnt work !!
