hey, i just recently downloaded knoppix because of some windows error preventing me from logging into it. i was going to use it to back up my files and then resintall windows, but while i was on it, i was wondering if it was possible to run any .exe files? like the systemrestore one, rstrui.exe, (i think) specifically. when i clicked on rstrui.exe, or any other .exe file, an "open with" box would show up. what program should i use to run them? i'd really love to attempt to fix windows thru a system resore instead of reinstalling. any help will be greatly appreciated.

No...I'm afraid you aren't going to be able to run System Restore with knoppix. Wine will run some windows applications, but nothing anywhere near as process intensive as that one is. But at least you can get all of your files off. :D
