Hi!

- I have problems mounting my USB memory stick (Apacer 128MB handy STENO 2.0).
I'm booting Knoppix 3.3 from CD with the memory stick installed, on an Acer TravelMate 525TX portable PC. I have made a directory called /mnt/usbkey. On my KDE desktop there are 4 sda icons (sda1 to sda4).

- Clicking on the icons on the desktop gives me:
Could not mount device.
The reported error was:
/dev/sda1: Input/output error
mount: I could not determine the filesystem type, and none was specified

- Manuall mounting gives me:
root@ttyp0[root]# mount /dev/sda -t vfat /mnt/usbkey/
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda,
or too many mounted file systems
(I have also tried using /dev/sda1 to /dev/sda4 instead of only /dev/sda)

- DMESG gives me:
knoppix@ttyp0[knoppix]$ dmesg |grep sda
Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi2, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
SCSI device sda: 253949 512-byte hdwr sectors (130 MB)
sda: Write Protect is off
sda: sda1 sda2 sda3 sda4

- I also have tried to save my knoppix configuration to the usb device 1 to 4 without luck:
The KNOPPIX configuration could NOT be saved:

- What do I do wrong?

mmm, I have the same problem. The same USB and the same results. But, I have tried with another devices and the success rate is 50%. In some cases, Knoppix detects the usb drive without any problem. In the other cases, no way.

So I think, that more than a configuration problem I think than there is a case of incompatibility.

if you have a card reader. (ex: compactflash) knoppix will make that a sd also. One for each card reader. (if its a six in one then there will be six sd's)
