Can anyone explain to this noob how to setup setiathome in Knoppix on hard drive?

Probably easiest if you apt-get "setiathome" and "ksetisaver" if you want it to run when your machine is idle.

go to http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/unix.html and they click and download i686-pc-linux-gnu

then go into a shell and go to the directory then type setiathome

for me xsetiathome doesn't work.

Hmm, there seems to be a debian way for this too:

Included in Overclockix remaster. Run command cfgseti to change the default config and start it, or just setion. If hdd-installed, you can then just link the /usr/local/bin/setion script into your default runlevel and it will run at boot in the background.

note- overclockix runs folding@home by default, so run command foldoff to shut it off
