My only drive is a Seagate Barracuda 80 Gb SATA drive.
Knoppix 3.3 does not even recognize or mount it on boot.

I'm not aware of any 2.4 kernel in KNOPPIX that will detect and use SATA. I know the driver for my Promise SATA controller can be built into a 2.6 kernel, but it seems it's been left out thus far. :(
