I have a laptop that has no working harddrive. When "creating the /etc/fstab..." file during boot-up, Knoppix stops loading while the drive just skips (because of bad sectors). There has to be a way to run Knoppix without the HDD, right?

Yep. You could try disabling the hard drive in the bios.Quote:
