USB Driver for Samsung Cell Phone to laptop

:? I have recently aquired knoppix and am very interested in leaving Windows behind, Unfortunatley I cant get knoppix to run from my cd. Before I partition the hardrive, and set up knoppix on my laptop, I would also like to collect a driver so that I can connect to the net via my Samsung A500 Cell phone via a usb data cable. I already have this system working in xp. But am wondering if anyone can help me get a driver for this setup in Knoppix. Once I get it up and running and connect to the net I'm sure I'll have the resources to begin mastering unix for my purposes.
