no3d changes "something" more ...
fortunately 8.3 has ( undocumented ? ) nocompiz bootparameter
it gets parsed by /etc/X11/Xsession.d/45knoppix

however the "no3d" bug making x unstartable should...

if you simply dont want compiz with 8.3 you can use nocompiz as boot option instead of no3d
may be it also works with 8.2

with knoppix 8.3 i also get a message about it missing from synaptic ...
anyone knows what is wrong ? 8.3 is the newest so it shuldnt contain depreciated things ...
