Checked runknoppixlib() and runknoppixchroot(), seems orig KNOPPIX is needed.
Option would be to figure out the minimum files needed for init to run before switchroot.

I was wanting to rename the present KNOPPIX to next num,
I guess that would be KNOPPIX2 and then drop a KNOPPIX(new) file,
so now KNOPPIX2(Orig KNOPPIX ~ 3.9Gb) is overlayed...

Did a usb install of v7.2 on 8Gb pendrive, and now,
I wanted to add a cloop file before the current KNOPPIX file by renaming it to KNOPPIX2.
Will this be ok, because seems that most of the time...

akgregator closing error (seems solved in 7.0.4)
/etc/init.d/syslogd - restart...

I guess that means using the space on disk directly and not inside the persistent storage.

Remounting of Knoppix-data.img seems to work in 6.4.4
Only extra step was to create a new loop device.

1. How about re-mounting knoppix-data.img as readonly.
2. Then creating new Union with KNOPPIX and directly compressing the new Union.

Try knoppix64 at boot prompt.

1. Make sure the boot-only cd version matches for the version of knoppix installed on flash. (As Werner pointed out).
2. If you are using Persistence of any type, try disabling it and rebooting...

If you using persistent storage, then
1. Change in '/etc/default/rcS' the line 'UTC=no'
2. Then use tz=/America/New_York during boot process

Had to do the following to make it work. :-)
Though I came across another problem (not confiming). dpkg seems to give error after couple of package installation in persistent knoppix-data.img.

Hope 6.5 gets out for downloading sooner.

Well I am able to get realtime event log by doing:
