Well, your suspicion fails completely. I haven't looked into the details, but somehow, I have to reinstall qemu-kvm (look for that package) after remastering to have it run correctly, i.e. with kvm....

There's an additional problem using vmware: Right now, you have to manually patch the module sources to get them to compile with 2.6.38+ kernels. If you want to run it with your own compiled kernel...
