Many thanks Werner. I did all the "without burning it to DVD " post you suggested and all seemed to be great (intel btw) until the final command which gave:
$ kvm -m 512 -cdrom...
Am i missing something? I have just downloaded ver 7.6.1, checked it's MD5 & SHA1 sums, burned to a USB drive using the DD command (inc ending with a SYNC) and then tried to boot it ... failed!! ...
and now you've had a vasectomy :)
The problem is, in my experience, whenever users ask for help using short posts, it usually leads to lots of helpers asking masses of questions with lots of other helpers jumping in having guessed at...
i really hope that you are joking philo.
if not, that's a very sad reflection of our times.
I totally agree philo. We express our own views, not what we would prefer others to think.
Also, although we may not be voting, a survey, like an election, also works on numbers,
i.e. the...

With respect Werner, your post #7 actually said ...
You did not actually mention the "flash-knoppix" utility - which i assumed would work as the example shown implies, i.e. using the iso...
Sorry, forum limit of 5 files ... so here's the last one:p
Sorry for the delay but as the usb stick was wrong (due to it's size), imo, i trashed it. So i had to re-make it to get the data you needed ...
To be absolutely sure all was ok i even dl'd the iso...
Thanks, however, i did realise this. I have previously used "flash disk install" to a make the usb bootable copy of 7.2.0 i had on cd.
As i mentioned in my original post, i used the flash-knoppix...
i had seen the different methods of flash install, however, i had booted from an older vers of knoppix (7.2.0) that i already had on a pen/thumb/usb/flash/?? drive and i wanted to "burn" the latest...
thanks for replying, however ...
