:) The first time I put my hands on Linux was December last year. All because I don't like lazy OS like Windows 7, XP was kind of OK, but I got bored with it and besides I do believe in open source...
You select a package first, then click package menu and select Download Changelog. You will see the urgency inside the changelog
I have all LXDE packages upgraded. I have all packages in my system upgraded to unstable :) and my system runs very smooth with no crashes. The only packages on hold in my system are all xserver-xorg...
I had blocksize error, but my approach was wrong on the first place. I was using FAT32 formated hard drive as temporary storage and I think it is wrong because files don' retain their permissions...
There is no way really to find out the write cycles of usb flash drives. For this to be possibles they should have some kind of s.m.a.r.t capability built in similar to the hard drives. As Krishna...
Since most of the Knoppix users nowadays use flash drives as media, can someone please make a good step by step USB remaster tutorial. It would be great if it is included in this web page...
:) By now I only use xsession-errors to troubleshoot applications. Knock on wood X did no die on me :) and if it dies I doubt you will find anything in xsession-errors
I have a better idea regarding .xsession-errors, or at least sounds better to me.
Edit /etc/X11/xsession line61
ERRFILE=$HOME/.xsession-errors to ERRFILE=/var/log/xsession-errors
then create...
Obviously with the chinese isn't that simple - sorry for my uniformed opinion
Are you just trying to type in Chinese ? Why don't you simply use:
setxkbmap -option '' 'us,cn' 'grp:alt_shift_toggle'
With this you will be able to switch between us and chinese using...
If you want to map all your mouse buttons there is very easy gui tool called btnx-config, you might want to give it a try
I am glad it works for you :-D happy NANO mousing
I tested with another flash drive - it took about 10 seconds for the drive to appear in fstab and pcmanfm as /media/sdc1 and is mountable as soon as it appears
I finally managed to upgrade udev without breaking the system. If anyone is about to make this step - please read this post.
I upgraded all 3 packages: libudev, libgudev and udev to version 160-1

There are many workarounds to this, but none of them is necessarily better then the original solution. There can be a script which will clean this file at every shutdown, or this file can be made to...
To make it more understandable. This is what happens. I used my Knoppix flash on another laptop with Radeon video. Knoppix did not manage to load the Radeon driver properly, so it loaded Vesa. Then...
If you manually set "device" section in xorg with say "intel" driver, /etc/sysconfig/xserver has XMODULE="fbdev" and you restart Knoppix will boot with fbdev driver. 6.2.1 has an option to preserve...
Just to clarify the issue. Knoppix writes the last used video driver in /etc/sysconfig/xserver.
Any subsequent boot of Knoppix will be with the last successfully used video driver, unless a boot...
From what I see, you have 2 identical devices id=12 and 13. One of them has more complete evdev prop-list. I assume the second one was created after you unpluged the wireless adapter and is the one...
And you don't have to list the device by its name - it can be listed by it's ID. You do it like this
xinput list
It will output all devices with their ID number. The output of cat...
Try to change the font you use in lxterminal
Since you use Knoppix on multiple machines, the best option would be to include the cheatcode xmodule=vesa in your /mnt-system/boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg file - in the Label Knoppix section somewhere...
Yes, I was right the name is listed as Microsoft Microsoft® Nano Transceiver v1.0 by the kernel - there is one more thing I will ask you to send me-it is the output of:
xinput list-props "Microsoft...
Because I am not sure about the name by which your mouse is listed can you post the output of :
cat /proc/bus/input/devices
You can try and see if some xinput commands may work. Check if
xinput list-props "Microsoft® Nano Transceiver v1.0"
shows up your device and its available options. If it does you might be in luck
