Was the something else you downloaded with BitTorrent or some other technique.? BT will be slow if you have your system set up improperly and do not allow incoming connections to pass through your router and firewall (See the wiki for information about BitTorrent setup). Also, how long did you let BT run before deciding it was slow? It will start slowing but pick up speed nicely after a few minutes if configured properly.
Lastly, I tried to look at the tracker site to get a feel for how fast current downloads are going. I'm not getting a response from it. So I would guess that there is some current short term problem at the site, you may wish to try again (the tracker just came back up as I was about to post this.) Looking at the English CD figures I see speeds as high as 265 kBps and a good number over 100 kBps, For DVD downloaders I'm seeing speeds as high as 585 kBps (that's Bytes, not bits), and many over 100 kBps. So I expect the problem is with your setup.

The ports that the real BitTorrent client uses are well dociumented on the BitTorrent site. http://userpages.umbc.edu/%7Ehamilto...entconfig.html I have no idea what ports Azureus uses (it's not locked into using the same ports; actually any BT user can use whatever ports they want but the above link gives the default ports used by the official client. I'm not clear why you couldn't find this for yourself. Nor do I use McAfee or know the steps to open ports under it. I do know the steps that are needed to open ports on the firewalls that I use.
