Knoppix Hardware Autoconfiguration

My linux box uses a from-source distro (currently Gentoo, but will likely change to my own...). I really like Knoppix's hardware autoconfiguration. I was wondering what Knoppix uses for this? Where can I get the code?

/etc/init.d/knoppix-autoconfiguration or a similar named shell-script.
