Knoppix 3.2 Sound Configuration

I have a P4 machine with onboard AC97 sound. Knoppix boots alright but detects the sound as Intel 810 module which causes modprobe to fail as it cant detect the port or something. I tried ALSA but doesnt work. A suggestion says type alsamixer in Konqueror (to lower PCM to 75) but the command is not executed.

Can anybody help me out with this problem...........?

If you are booting from CD try including "alsa" as one of the parameters before the config and home statement.

knoppix26 alsa myconfig=... etc

Alsa may find the hardware and reconfigure the drivers.
