use the cheat code 'knoppix nodma'
I have a few pcs which are used as internet access pc's in the cafe at work. I have recently got some more 2nd hand. They are fujitsu-scenic 860's. They work fine with 3.3 but when I try to boot 3.4 with them they stop at "Looking for CDROM in: /dev/scd0" it will sit there for a while then return "Can't find KNOPPIX filesystem, sorry. Dropping you to a (very limited) shell. Press reset button to quit."
These pc's can also boot slax, morphix, freeduc, feather & dsl with out any problems.
Any ideas?
use the cheat code 'knoppix nodma'
That worked a treat - Thanks!
Is there any way to get the cd to boot that way by default?
You might want to look at a neat utility called XOSL (eXtended Operating System Loader). XOSL has the ability to boot from a variety of devices and partitions and it can also feed the booting program keystrokes as it boots. So (and this is just theory, I haven't done it with Knoppix although I use it for other similar things) you might be able to let XOSL boot the CD and then feed it the magic cheat codes that you want.Originally Posted by pybe
