    Good News

Yes I used partition magic, a very handy application!

I have now redownloaded the iso and it turns out there was a problem
with my original download. I now however have knoppix working from the CD with the floppy boot image on the HDD!

    Thanks again.

on the topic of hot swappable drives and whatnot I have a dell latitude, I have a number of drives that i would like to use on it.

    Zip 250
    CD-ROM
    Floppy

Allready loaded it to the HD, that worked great. Can't praise enough the:

    knx-hdinstall

command. That was so simple. And once I figured out that the swap file was number 82 it made life even easier. The only problem is when I'm on the desktop of knoppix I can't seem to hotswap the drives to access the floppy or the zip or the cd-rom. I have to reboot everytime to access the floppy or cd-rom, I have never gotten the zip to work on knoppix 3.2 yet.

Ideas on how to accomplish this would be great.

--I have a Latitude also. The problem with hot-swapping the floppy and CD is (I think) the kernel doesn't get notified. I leave the CD in, and have the parallel-port adapter for the floppy. Here is a google link, you can probably find it for less:

--If you boot with the Zip 250 plugged in, it should be /dev/sda4. You can confirm this with - as root - ' fdisk -l /dev/sd? '

I am running knoppix off of the Hard drive, just can't figure out how to mount this zip drive. I've tried /dev/sda when i create a new hd on the desktop also tried /dev/sda4 not sure what i am doing wrong with it. I have a disk in the drive when the laptop boots. If I shutdown, I can put the floppy in and use that, and then If I shutdown again I can run the cdrom. No big deal, just wanted to create a desktop icon for zip...doesn't seem to want to recognize it.

--What kind of interface does the Zip have?

o For my old parallel port I have to ' modprobe ppa '
o For the newer parallel ones it's ' modprobe imm '.
    o For USB zip drives it's ' modprobe usb-storage '. o For internal IDE drives it's ' modprobe ide-floppy '.

    --What does ' fdisk -l /dev/sd? ' return?
