I was introduce to knoppix a couple weeks ago and love it, i wasnt into linux or unix until i saw what linux live cd could do, now i want more knowledge about this OS. plus xp aint that much fun anymore, for example, i like tha fact that you can do almost anything to system, even upgrade the kernel, which isn't even thought about with microsoft products.
my question is: does anyone know where i could find some good reading material or sites beside this forum to get me up to speed with this totally different environment?

thanks markus!
You're welcome.
I"m very new to linux (obviously) and currently running it in CD mode, however would like to have a install / dual boot system w/o erasing my current windows setup.
Also can't install any new programs (ie yahoo, icq, etc) cause of lack of pasword... can anyone help me on both or any of these situations? My system will more than handle it. its listed below:
Pent 4 2.3Ghz
120Gig Hdd (currently 114 available)
2gb ram
etc etc *hehe*
Please any help greatly appreciated!! even email me if you can!!
For the hd-install have a look at these:

If it's all partitioned you need to shrink a partition to be able to install. Backup data and run windows defrag several times before shrinking it.120Gig Hdd (currently 114 available)
You need:
2,5 GB min for system root (5 GB is plenty)
500 MB for swap (with your ram you don't need it but linux seems to like having it)
As much as you like for /home (can't say what you'll put in your personal files.
Something for a FAT partition if you want to safely move over data. Yes, the new knoppix has captive-ntfs but I haven't tried it, anyone?)
You can install some applications while running the cd with scripts:
