iso image will not burn correctly

    I've d/led KNOPPIX_V3.4-2004-05-17-EN.iso

Three times I've tried to burn a CD, with different media, and each time it fails similar to this:
    bash-2.05b# cdrecord -v speed=10 dev=0,1,0 /home/mingdao/KNOPPIX_V3.4-2004-05-17-EN.iso

I've used a CD-RW and a DVD-RW, with the same results. Both drives burn iso images okay otherwise. I guess it goes without saying that it will not boot...

    Try using CD-R.

    Code:
    cdrecord -v dev=0,1,0 /home/mingdao/KNOPPIX_V3.4-2004-05-17-EN.iso
(you don't need the speed flag: leave cdrecord to find the best speed itself.)

By CD-RW I meant the drive, not the medium - I was using a CD-R in both the CD-RW drive and the DVD+/-RW drive.

Since that post I've hosed my system. I installed cups, gimp, and gimp-print and rebooted because I was going to test a customer's scanner on the paralell port. It won't reboot now - gets to
    Updating X font indexes: /usr/X11R6/bin/fc-cache
and won't go past there. Same thing with the boot floppy or using the CD for rescue mode.

When I get the system fixed, I'll try it w/out the speed option, although that has never been a problem before...ever.

Now, where did I put that Knoppix-STD disc...
