Knoppix CD customizer

I saw this on Slashdot and perhaps give it a chance here.

What about a project/TOOL that allowed you to create your own Knoppix CD? You choose the packages you want included using this tool and it will build the ISO for you! Essentially, a tool that does an apt get/update and builds the iso. I am only 1 week on this Linux thing, but I'm ready to learn more - thanks to Knoppix.

couldn' t the disc be cut up into sections of functionallity? Groups of similar programs compressed in a folder together rather than in one big one!

This would satisfy a lot of feature requests here! It would allow everyone to create their own CD without having to compile it by hand. It could be cut into slices small enough to fit on a 120MB mini-cd and add multiple slices for the full ISO. There could even be more than 700MB of slices for extremely specilized features or adding to a DVD. They essencially would be all one install, just slices of the picture instead of the whole thing.
