What's with the nifty mount & read/write items?

Can anyone tell me what program is responsible for those nice 'Mount Volume' and 'Change Read/Write Mode' menu-item you get on the context-menu (right-click) for HD's in Knoppix?
I really need one badly for my full install of RedHat, 'cause this vfat I have isn't allowing me to change the r/w-rights to this volume . Maybe someone knows another solution? When changing permissions (in properties) as root, the checkmark for 'group-write' flashes on for an instant, then clears itself?!

    All help appreciated.

You could look at the knoppix KDE desktop entries and copy them into your RedHat install (first I would name them differently to make sure they work OK)

    or

You might want to look at libranet's method of allowing users to have read/write access to vfat partitions here:
