This is because for some strange reason the module for the Audigy sound card resides in a sub-directory "emu10k1", and not in the normal module path for sound cards.
My brothers runs Knoppix 3.3 on his computer. He has a Soundblaster Audigy Soundcard.
The Soundcard utility doesnt like the card - the message says "No driver available. The module used for your soundcard EMU10K1.o is not currently in your module search path".

He copied the drivers in the right dir ! Now the card was detected. But after the test sound playing (which wasnt heard it) it says "There was an error. Select your soundcard manually. SB Audigy is not in list so he took SB Pro. But when trying to play music, linux says that the sound card is used by another app or the card isnt configured right.
Is he using "knoppix alsa" at bootup? If not, that might be worth a try. If so, I have no idea.
What is Knoppix Alsa?
I was just referring to using the alsa cheatcode at bootup. The alsa drivers may work better with his card.Originally Posted by djtwok
