I've been trying to get my winmodem to work for linux for the past few weeks but I cannot for the life of me figure it out.
I've used the pctel-0.9.6 driver but it keeps giving me the unable to write error even when I change my mount to read and write.
I'm not even sure the pctel-0.9.6 driver supports my chipset
My modem is internal, I opened my box up and found two chips on my modem,
the first had
PCT303L
0136GACAAI
the second
PCT303A
0241CACAAC
I have another modem that I was thinking of using but its a Conexant HSF modem, I checked out the linuxent website and I didn't like the fact that I have to pay to get my modem working full speed. So it looks like I'm stuck with my current modem. Any help would be appreciated on getting my modem to work.
BTW, I'd better mention that I am a complete newbie to linux.
