ethreal in knoppix 3.4

I have a slight prob with ethreal on 3.4. I logged on & obviously working as root so i dont think that i need any sort of rights to use any of the tools on the cd. ethreal is tossing out this error when i try to look at the eth0 interface activity. Btw eth0 is for the nic on the system that i booted off of the live cd.

The capture session could not be initiated (socket: Operation no permitted).
Please check to make sure you have sufficient permissions, and that you have
the proper interface or pipe specified.

So any ideas what i can do to fix this?
