I would also add a check for a previosly installed version of Knoppix on the HD & ask wether to overwrite or upgrade...
hope someone finds some time to add these.
Thanks!!!

A couple ideas for the hd knx-installer.
1 - Configure and install to software raid without editing files after the fact
2 - Allow multiple partitions at install ex. ( / & /home) that would save time after the install editing fstab etc.
Keep up the good work guys!!!!!!

I like all the ideas here, and would like to add one more...
If the installer is going to have more than just one option for installing, say Debian Style, it should have a small explaination on what that "install" is going to do, isn't going to do, etc...
I have spent more than five screens of "back and forth" posting, working with someone who can't get a DVD device to work, after doing a Knoppix-install, and FINALLY getting it to work, when they rebooted, it all was trashed again. We come to find out they did a "Knoppix Style" install...
The kicker is, they didn't even know "why" it made a differance which install option they chose, or even what they option did or didn't do for them.
Just a small "informative" text on what the options do, and don't do, would greatly help.
Thanks,
Ms. Cuddles
My idea for the next knx-installer: Copy the Mepis installer. It's head and shoulders above the knoppix one.
The Mepis installer is proprietairy. I once added support and no one used it.Originally Posted by markb
In fact it just does the copying - the last time the source code was open.
Knoppix goes another way with Hardwareprofiles and so on keeping most of the features of the Knoppix as a CD that just runs.
Knoppix also will stay dialog based as the frontend I build, as its so usable on the commandline too, which is especially important for blind people and text-only distributions.
If you write a _mature_ gui, I'll gladly include it as another frontend, but until someone does that, be happy with how it is.
