Some serious questions after hdd-install......

Hello, these questions are brought to you by "Knoppix/Linux supern00b v2.0"

Yesterday i did a hdd-install of Knoppix 3.6 and until now everything worked fine. At least i thought so.

Now there are several questions coming up, where i need some help.

I got 2 Harddisks, and the layout is as following:

HDD1:
Windows XP (hda1) - NTFS
Partition (hda2) - NTFS
Partition (hda3) - NTFS
Partition (hda4) - NTFS

HDD2:
Backup Partition (hdb5) - FAT32
Linux/Knoppix (hdb6) - ext2/3

I wrote the boot settings into the mbr and everything works fine.

What, if i'd like to uninstall Linux and like to format this drive again?
Are the entries in the mbr still existent? And if so, how can i get rid of that then without affecting my XP partition? Or can i just format the partition and reinstall Linux then?

Then i would like to know, where and how i can change the boot delay at the startup when i choose my OS? It's just too fast now, i even can't read all of the stuff there.

And now the more serious questions:

When trying to run "netcardconfig", then it comes up with an error message, that there is no ethernet card found in the system.

I got a 3Com Gigabit NIC 3c940 onboard solution.

so the NIC is there.
then someone gave me a link where i could download the linux drivers for this NIC, but now i have a compressed archive and have no clue what to do with it.

If you got some ideas, any help on these questions would be highly appreciated.

ok, after some research i was able to install the NIC drivers by myself and after i did "netcardconfig", everything seems to be fine now and the NIC is successfully recognized by the system.

what are the next steps to connect to the internet?

im using ADSL, 1 MBit, german Telekom.

please need some help...

If you need to delete the linux partition and you want to restore your old MBR, boot up with the windows installation CD and run the "Recovery Console". When you've loggen into your system through the Recovery Console, type "fixmbr" and the prompt (without qoutes). It will ask you if you want to write over your current MBR, just press 'y' and then press Enter. That should get rid of the boot loader that may have been installed to you MBR for linux.
