    boot "cheats"

so this is more of a general live cd questions, which i dont use a lot but they are great for fixing things (ie messed up grub).. so the question is pretty dumb.. i cannot manage to type the "=" sign at boot prompt i've hit all my kerboard keys but cant get that equal sign.. which is very useful at least in other distros.. now i know this sounds dumb and i know im not a linux guru but this should be fairly simple now some relevant facts
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i have a laptop (compaq r3240) bought in the us with an english keyboard
in my hard drive distribution i use it with an la ("latin american") setting i dont think it really matters..

    athlon 64 3200+
    512 ram
    60gb hdd

**thanks in advanced and sorry for the dumb question

If your version of knoppix is not English--German, etc--pressing shift-0 on an US keyboard will bring up the equal sign. This is due to a different keyboard format.

If you try booting 'knoppix lang=us' your us-std keyboard should be configured properly.

here are a few layouts of keyboards: (US, UK, French, German...)

i guess the US is most interesting for this subject, that can be seen here (a PDF file): http://www.pckeyboard.com/pdf/EnduraPro.pdf
    hope it helps
