Don't know how to start ede.

I've apt-got ede, but now I don't know how to start it. Its not in the login thing with the rest of the DEs/WMs. The ede website said something about the command "startede", which doesn't work, and said something about editing a config file I can't find. I've had mixed results installing WMs on knoppix before.

Unless you added a source that has Equinox Desktop Environment debs I'm afraid you didn't install a new wm but rather an emacs tool.

EDE is a project management system. It implements projects under
Emacsen making it easy to maintain programs without learning
make.

EDE is now a part of CEDET (Collection of Emacs Development
Environment Tools).

You'll have to build Equinox Desktop Environment from source (the site has instructions). If you DO have a source post it please.
