where do i download my .rpm files to in order for Alien to find them, because i keep getting the error that the file is not found.

Sry, figured it out.

it's better for you to compile application from source code rather then convert rpm to deb using Alien....this way you will know if that application has dependencies issue.
Try find debian packages first.........
