I know there are lots of emails on no sound and I think I've tried most solutions but I'm now getting a bit frustrated. The machine is an Asus Pundit-R which is a great machine but it hasn't made a squeak since assembly either as knoppix user or root. I booted windows XP and it worked after uploading the motherboard drivers. I installed knoppix with the cheat codes knoppix26 pnpbios=off lang=us alsa wheelmouse.

I believe the hardware is the same as the shuttles ST62K, ST61G4 and the Asus P4R800.

I ran dmesg, lspci, lsmod and used the KDE Info Center - Sound to produce the following.

PS the modem also doesn't work if anyone has any ideas.

Yours Mike Robinson
