Sound card problems

I have a yamaha XG sound card the sound card works on the cd but when i install to the hard drive the card fails to work Any sugestions?

Do you know which module is designed for the card?

yes but it doent not load during boot

hmm..

open a shell

sudo passwd (enter something)

su root
modprobe -lv (that module)

(lower case L for list all modules that could fit, v for verbose output)

see if anything matches.

Open a root console window and type sndconfig then enter and see if the sound configuration utility can detect the card.
