    Add the module for soundblaster. Type modconf as root at a konsole. Navigate down to kernel/sound/oss--enter here--then navigate down to-->sb (100% sound blaster compitablles.....) enter through until it says installation successful.
    Now go to K menu in the taskbar--->control center--->sound&multi...--->soundsystem (at this point check the box to enable the sound sytem) apply --->system notifications--->player settings--->check the use an external players box and enter artsplay--- OK--->check the apply to all applications box--->Turn on all. This should get you somewhere. Konsole is the little screen in the toolbar. Click and type su then the passwd. Are you running from cd or hd install?

    on 8-9.1 use xf86cfg to configure x (type it as root )
    on 10-->current use xorgcfg
    if it doesnot help ask further.
